"Marriner's EMI accounts of all these pieces (the Ancient Airs with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra)...remain the choice." -- MusicWeb International

"Marriner's account of the suites of dances is attractively light and gracious, offering an almost French elegance, with pleasingly transparent textures." -- Penguin Guide [2003/4 edition]

Serviceable recording of Respighi: Ancient Airs A July 14, 2013 By James Spence (Victoria, BC) See All My Reviews "Despite the direction of Sir Neville Marriner, this recording is rather mediocre, lacking in the subtlety and clarity that might help to distinguish it from the many other recordings of this work. The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra is not really up to the task, and the sound engineering/mastering is not of the highest quality." Report Abuse
Dancing on air June 28, 2013 By Stephan V. (Silver Spring, MD) See All My Reviews "Having all three suites together is one of music's finer privileges and none better than under Marriner." Report Abuse
