Perfect Requiem, but expect different December 4, 2012 By Tim K. See All My Reviews "This edition of the Requiem Mass was completed by Richard Maunder who jettisoned everything written by Sussmayer and completed the Lacrimosa and added the a recently discovered Amen fugue at the end. Thus, you will hear endless grumblings about this recording from folks who have unfortunately become used to far inferior versions. Personally I think the Sussmayer version to be horrible, this one is far better and at least it sounds much like Mozart, instead of racket. Tempos are neither too fast or slow, the choir sings with beautiful expression and great technique, the singers are all out of this world. I have many versions of K. 626 and this is by far my favorite." Report Abuse
A little disappointed April 3, 2012 By Richard H. (Glendale, AZ) See All My Reviews "I am usually very satisfied with Hogwood and the AAM but this rendition of the Mozart Requiem is a little flat. The confutatis lacks the thrust it demands and the rest of it doesn't help at all.

If you want the requiem on period instruments I recommend looking elsewhere."
