World-renowned conductor, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic join together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski. Salonen and the LA Philharmonic have recorded Lutoslawski’s Symphony No. 1 live at the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles along with the composer’s “Fanfare for the Los Angeles Philharmonic.” The new two-CD set also includes Lutoslawski’s Symphonies Nos. 2, 3 and 4, which were previously recorded by Salonen and the LA Philharmonic, and new liner notes by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and noted Lutoslawski scholar Steven Stucky.

him and has championed many of the composer’s works over the years. Salonen is the Conductor Laureate for the Los Angeles Philharmonic and was their Music Director from 1992 to 2009. During the last decade of his life, Lutoslawski had strong ties to the LA Philharmonic where he conducted premiere performances of many of his new works.
