Top Choice for Poulenc's a cappella Choral Music May 9, 2013 By Nicholas D. (TARRYTOWN, NY) See All My Reviews "This re-issue combines two CDs of Francis Poulenc's complete music for a cappella chorus, sacred and secular, performed by the superb Netherlands Chamber Choir under the great Swedish conductor and choral trainer Eric Ericson. Full texts and translations are included. Along with the recordings by Laurence Equilbey's marvelous French ensemble Accentus, these are the best versions I know of some of the finest choral music of the 20th century. Poulenc put the best of himself into these beautiful works, and the performers have outdone themselves in meeting the music's considerable technical and expressive demands. If your image of Poulenc is limited to the witty man-of-the-world of the scandalous 1920s, this will be a real ear-opener to his range and depth as a composer. Highly recommended." Report Abuse
