Notes and Editorial Reviews

Next to perhaps Aaron Copland, Morton Gould was THE voice of American music during his long and fruitful life. Less than a year after his passing, Koch International has issued a disc called "Morton Gould's America" (7380-2 Hl). Gould's classic "Fall River Legend" ballet about Lizzie Borden, the O.J. of her era, gets a fine reading from the New Zealand Symphony under James Sedares.

All American Delight December 5, 2013 By Joseph  Erdeljac (West Chester, PA) See All My Reviews "Morton Gold is truly and uniquely American in his compositions. The Fall River Legend is exciting and evocative with the New Zealand Symphony in top form. The Stephen Foster Gallery is delightful. Gould is an expert orchestrator and each piece captures the mood and expression of the original Foster songs. The Gregg Smith Singers, a truly great American choir, delivers a moving and well sung Of Time and the River. Here we have a truly All American musical experience of a high caliber." Report Abuse
