REVIEW:

Barenboim brings to these a freshness of approach, and sensitivity. His expressive powers are wondrous and he captures the full range of emotions that these works have to offer. You get the feeling that he really understands this music and that he has an improvisatory and spontaneous approach.

Sonatas that I was missing from my collection November 29, 2017 By Stephen J. A. (Jacksonville, FL) See All My Reviews "Barenboim is a fine pianist and I could compare the Sonatas in this collection with other artists. While I prefer Gilels Moonlight, Barenboim's is very pleasant. Barenboim's Waldstein is as fine a performance as any I have heard. The Tempest is a little different than Helene Grimaud's and I think both versions are great. This not a comparison of the two performers who I think are both great talents. I bought the DVD for Beethoven's 16th and for the Pastoral and I am pleased with the entire collection and with the quality of the DVD. The setting is wonderful and the sound is good." Report Abuse
