The soloists, fine singers all, are in good voice, and everything is in place with the chorus and orchestra... John Aler and Håkan Hagegård both sing superbly... Arleen Auger sings well, but one can always detect the effort and careful planning... The Koch digital recording is honest and natural, with each soloist especially clear and firmly placed... The booklet with the Koch set prints the German and English librettos sequentially, instead of side-by-side, which may be a bother. An honorable effort all around...
