Notes and Editorial Reviews

András Schiff is today regarded as one of the finest interpreters of Bach on the piano, a performing tradition that was earlier established by Glenn Gould with his legendary interpretations of the Goldberg Variations in the late 1950s. This 2-CD set features a number of popular pieces such as the Italian Concerto and the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue as well as a selectioon of Preludes and Fugues from The Well-Tempered Clavier and several suites. As well as a strong catalogue item and addition to the DOUBLE DECCA catalogue, this set acts as a superb reminder of András Schiff's major survey of Bach and his acclaimed interpretations as he approaches his 50th birthday on 21 December 2003.
