I CAN NOT READ A NOTE OF MUSIC February 1, 2013 By ROBERT E.  FOX (OCALA, FL) See All My Reviews "THANK GOODNESS I CAN HEAR THIS MUSIC. I'LL LIMIT COMMENTS TO THE 2 ND PIANO CONCERTO. SHOSTAKOVICH SEEMS TO EXPRESS EMOTION SO WELL AND LENNY BLEEDS IT DRY. AT THE BEGINNING, ITS LIKE WAVES OF THE SEA WITH INCREASING AND DIMINISHING STRENGTH OR POWER. LENNY DOES THIS SO WELL. IT AMAZES ME THAT A CONDUCTOR CAN BOTH BE PIANO SOLOIST AND CONDUCTOR AT THE SAME TIME. LENNY DOES THIS, PERHAPS WITH THE EASE THAT CAN ONLY COME FROM HIS OWN ORCHESTRA. BUT, THE GAMUT OF EXPRESSION IN THIS PIECE FROM QUIET CALM TO POWERFUL PASSION IS SO EXCITING. KUDOS TO SHOSTAKOVICH FOR WRITING THIS AND TO LENNY FOR PLAYING IT. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT MAN CANT DO ? HE CONDUCTS, COMPOSES AND PLAYS." Report Abuse
