Notes and Editorial Reviews
The World of Romanticism was a subtitle of Sviatoslav Richter's famous music festival, December Nights. Its program comprised compositions by Schubert, Schumann, and Chopin, and ten days were devoted to each composer. This disc includes a performance of Blumenstück, Op. 19 from the opening Schumann night, a performance of Bilder aus Osten by Richter and Lyudmila Berlinskaya, and the Piano Quintet in E-flat Major performed by Richter and the Borodin Quartet. This is the first time that these live recordings, made in the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in December 1985, have been made available on CD.
-----
A fine account of the popular Piano Quintet, but also some rarities.
