Notes and Editorial Reviews

These recordings come from a series of concerts given in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory in 1962. The recordings have overall good clarity and presence and are well-balanced. There is also no filtering, so in addition to the performers, who are the most prominent in foreground sound, occasional audience noise, air conditioning (in quite passages) and room ambiance can be heard. Some listeners may not accept this whereas others may find that it imparts an immediacy and presence to the experience. - ArkivMusic.com These recordings come from a series of concerts given in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory in 1962.  Pass on this one July 10, 2014 By owen  r. (lakewood, CA) See All My Reviews "What a shame,an historic recording ruined by a crappy recording. Apparently the Soviet recording engineers did not know their western counterparts techniques for shielding the mics from audience noise for this recording has obtrusive coughing and other noises. As if that wasn't bad enough the producer or engineer rides the gain apparently trying to increase the dynamic range but only creates a Frankenstein sound tableau." Report Abuse
