| The Six Concerts that Bach sent to Christian Ludwig of Brandenburg in 1721 evince such a wealth and diversity in form and instrumental forces that it is not very probable that they were conceived as a unified cycle. What is more likely is that they were written over a long period for the highly accomplished musicians at the court of Köthen. In his treatment of the relatively recent Italianate concerto form, Bach once again shatters the conventional norms. | |||||
