Helmut Wobisch April 15, 2013 By Daniel P. (New York, NY) See All My Reviews "In my youth I had the I Solisti di Zagreb recording of The Four Seasons on LP. I happily found this compilation but was unable to bring myself to purchase it because it contains the Vivaldi double trumpet concerto, featuring Helmut Wobisch, notorious Nazi Party member, SS Officer, and leader of the Vienna Philharmonic. He was responsible for the firing of his Jewish colleagues, some of whom died in concentration camps. I am certainly aware that some of the major musical icons of the 20th Century were Nazis, e.g. Von Karajan, Furtwangler, and others. However, in the case of Wobisch I simply could not bring myself to purchase this CD given that he was essentially a murderer." Report Abuse
