Alessandro Baccini is the featured Oboe and English Horn soloist in an enjoyable album of music by Mozart, his teacher J.C. Bach and Franz Joseph Haydn's brother, Michael Haydn. Of interest, in addition to Mozart's Oboe Quartet K. 370 is Mozart's Adagio for English Horn and Strings in C major, (K. Anh. 94) which is a movement sketch from 1789 and very likely intended for a larger work as well as likely not intended for the English horn. Nevertheless, the piece sounds unusal and expressive in this setting. Michael Haydn's Divertimento features the Oboe, Viola and Double Bass resulting in a particularly rich, amber-toned combination, especially highlighted within the basically melodious, classical style.
