Notes and Editorial Reviews
A gala concert in the Leipzig Gewandhaus was dedicated to the life's work of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. Kurt Masur, long the Head Conductor of the famous Gewandhaus Orchestra, delved into the works of his most important predecessors. The concert titled "Mendelssohn in Leipzig" not only compiled Mendelssohn's most beautiful and important compositions, but also a canon of works that are all closely bound up with the city of Leipzig and its Gewandhous Orchestra, those written for it and first performed by it.
