Incredible performance January 24, 2015 By Harry H. See All My Reviews "There are lots of recordings of the 9th, going back to the 1930s. This is one of the best. Mehta is on the money with his concept of the work, top to bottom. Tempos, tone of the orchestra, structure. Everything is superb. Soloists_ Price, Horne, Vickers, Talvela. Beethoven never heard it so good. The orchestral play shows why many consider the NY Phil the best in the world. Perfection in sound. The chorus is exceptional and all artists work together under this exemplary conducting to produce one of the greatest recordings to this work, on par with Walter, Reiner and Szell. Seek it out, and be transported to Beethoven's world and beyond." Report Abuse
