Paradis (Toronto, ON)See All My Reviews"Think of the stunning achievement of Magda Olivero in the title role elsewhere (in Venice) then add hugeness to the voice. In a certain regrettable way, Frazzoni is so great here that pretty much all else she achieved is eclipsed. She's no one-trick pony, but this is really her greatest triumph. What more can one say about her all-star partners Corelli and Gobbi? ... and all in the absolute security of the La Scala forces. The deluxe (and I mean deluxe) package published here by La Scala itself surpasses visually and sonically other issues I've heard or this performance. One for the ages ..."Report Abuse
