Superb Performances June 29, 2017 By M. Bishop (Clackamas, OR) See All My Reviews "Yo-Yo Ma does an excellent job of playing Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B Minor on this album. He is accompanied by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO), under the direction of Lorin Maazel, and both do an excellent job of matching wits with Ma. Ma’s cello playing is perfectly balanced against the BPO’s playing. The sound quality for this recording is good; the cello playing by Ma is, for the most part, on par with the BPO’s accompaniment. My wish list for this album would be that greater volume would be given to Ma’s performance. When all is said and done, I give a strong endorsement to Yo-Yo Ma’s and Lorin Maazel and the BPO’s performances on this album." Report Abuse
