Cellist France Springuel gained international fame when she became the first Belgian laureate of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She has taken the forefront in many cello competitions taking the "Prix du jeune Soliste" in Montreal and named "Festival-star” at the Flanders Festival and laureate of the Axion Classics contest. Her former teachers include Paul Tortelier, André Navarra and Pierre Fournier and her musicianship has been praised by Lorin Maazel.
