Bel Canto fan April 11, 2012 By Perry S. (New Plymouth, -) See All My Reviews "At last there is a stage performance to buy. This is an opera I really enjoy on CD and have watched out for a DVD for some time. It is a bit of a strange production with modern dress and uniforms, some traditional Roman centurion uniforms and symbolic sets. Everything that I would normally avoid, but this was not objectional to me. I would have preferred traditional, but this will do. The singers were good without being stars - Paolina / Marrocu started off a little loud but soon showed a range of volume and shading. Poliuto / Kunde is OK without quite being the tenor he has been. Overall, an enjoyable DVD that I will happily play more times." Report Abuse
