Henning Sieverts doesn't want to have coffee to go, but rather "Coffee To Stay", as the title of one piece states. He likes sounds that are made to linger longer - and he also likes to play them. make up a team that takes joy in playing with unusual material so that it bubbles and sparkles. The compositions are sophisticated, using birthdates as the basis for tonal intervals, or tossing eighth-notes into a whirl of changing meters. Yet everything sounds natural and sensuous, as if jazz has always been inspired by higher mathematics. Here the trombone growls indulgently bringing back images of the heydays of swing, there an edgy blues shouts and swirls, and in homage to the pop band "The Police", melodies drift by in a hymn-like state of sonic bliss.
