Exhilarating and poeticApril 21, 2012By C. Davin (Cleveland, OH)See All My Reviews"Claire Chase's "Terrestre" is easily one of the top contemporary chamber music recordings I've heard. The performance on the title track, a work by Kaija Saariaho, is a thing of wonder, filled with remarkable vocalizations and a clean yet highly expressive ensemble dynamic. The Boulez "Sonatine" is another highlight - Jacob Greenberg's pianism is extraordinary, and flutists I've shared this recording with are understandably stunned at Chase's performance of this most demanding of pieces. The entire recording is exquisite, and has wide appeal for its incredible combination of liveliness and lyricism."Report Abuse
