A highly recommendable performance April 20, 2012 By M. Gielen (den Bosch, Noord Brabant) See All My Reviews "Boris Zarankin performes Schubert. Franz Schuberts sombre death inspired sonata in A minor D784 This sonata is interpreted profound and serious. In the Andante he reveals the desperation and resignation in a most sensitive way.In the Allegro vivace he lets us hear a lovely landler,a dance under a shadowy clouded sky,a bittersweet experiance. In the whole it is a impressive reading of exceptional sensitivity, his warm tone and skilful pianism is a feast for the ears. Sonata in B major D960 This masterpeace performed by almost every pianist, here by Mr Zarankin where he takes us on a magnificent journey through regions of sorrow, longing and resignation, penetrating into the heart of this sonata. In the end he brings us home safe though the final presto does not give pure cheerfulness,a cloudy sky is nearby as often in Schubert. Zarankin gives a stirring emotional performance with warmth and the right touch. Very recommendable, M.Gielen" Report Abuse
