Notes and Editorial Reviews

Frederick Fennel was a towering figure in American music pedagogy as well as wind ensemble repertoire and recording. He also, as exemplified here, created some of the most enjoyable interpretations of "lighter" classical music with his Eastman-Rochester Pops Orchestra.

The establishment of the Mercury Living Presence record label was fortuitously timed to document some of his most significant work for posterity in truly awesome recordings that to this day are landmark achievements in recorded sound. Who would have thought some of our greatest discs would have been recorded in the late 1950's?

Beyond being a showcase for your stereo system, Hi-Fi A La Espanola and Popovers is simply great fun to listen
