Notes and Editorial Reviews

Rimsky-Korsakov's Trio, performed by the Kinsky Trio Prague as with much of his chamber music, is unlike the exotic orchestral works and embraces a more Germanic style. The influences of Mendelssohn and Brahms are present. The trio was completed by Maximilian Steinberg who, along with Igor Starvinsky, was a young student of Rimsky-Korsakov. Anton Arensky's well-crafted late-Romantic Trio, as with his other rarely heard scores, is reminiscent of Tchaikovsky but very satisfying.
