Notes and Editorial Reviews

John Philip Sousa's tireless touring with his world-famous band and the distinctive quality of his compositions ensured legendary status and the affectionate title of 'The March King'. This tenth volume of Sousa's complete works for wind band under the 'energy and precision' (ClassicsToday.com) of Keith Brion's directorship includes a remarkably descriptive Humoresque, the rare Jazz America fantasy from 1925, and the People in Glass Houses Suite on the subject of various varieties of alcoholic drink, complete with popping corks.

Well played Sousa February 19, 2013 By roger horn (Clarion, PA) See All My Reviews "I have the rest of these recordings already and was not sure I just wanted to have them all, but seeing the Quilters Party March was included it was hard to resist (my wife is a quilter) and even though that march just turned out to be what could be called a typical Sousa piece the rest made it wothwhile. The first CD by Brion with the Royal Norwegian Navy was a little shakey stylistically, but in this one they have it down right and the performances are well played and right on style." Report Abuse
