Classic, Essential Bayreuth Performance December 13, 2011 By George Brown (Boca Raton, FL) See All My Reviews "Böhm observes every telling detail of the marvelous score yet re-creates Wagner's long paragraphs with cumulative sweep. None of the intense emotion is missing. All the singers deliver not just beautiful tone but also excellent diction, with every word clear and telling. Rysanek's signature scream at the moment Siegmund pulls the sword from the tree highlights the significance of the event and sets off a rush of excitement that carries through to the end of Act I. Nilsson and Adam actually communicate with each other in their scenes. The reissue is outstanding. One of a handful of "must have" Bayreuth Walküres." Report Abuse
