Sergei Nakariakov's reputation as a "Paganini of the trumpet" is made all the more remarkable by his youth. His ability to endow the instrument with a human voice is haunting. ÉLÉGIE lets the trumpet sing through a broad range of songs ranging from Johannes Brahms to George Gershwin. The compositions are unified by emotion, nostalgic and romantic, creating a quite satisfying whole.
ÉLÉGIE is also notable as the first recording pairing Nakariakov with his sister Vera, an established pianist in her own right. Both initially trained by their father, they have an intuitive understanding of each other's approach to the music. The album is dedicated to the memory of Vera Nakariakova's husband, opera singer Vladimir Mukovnikov. His
