Rachmaninoff a real treat January 13, 2018 By John Brauer (Fish Creek, WI) See All My Reviews "This video recording has "ambient" sound, which is only slightly stereophonic. That's my main gripe. The Rachmaninoff "The Bells" was recorded with a huge wonderful chorus in Royal Albert Hall. Fortunately the chorus sings in English instead of the usual Russian, altho many words still cannot be heard. What a wonderful piece, especially the final movement with its moving bass solo. The Prokofiev is recorded in a much smaller hall and features trumpet solos that sound too Russian to me. Evidently the British trumpeter wanted to add Russian vibrato." Report Abuse
