God Save The RPO! September 6, 2014 By Henry S. (Springfield, VA) See All My Reviews "This is a British Pops Classics recording truly worthy of the name! Consisting of a variety of well known marches, seafaring songs, and bombastic choral songs of imperial heritage, the recording presents what is almost certainly core program material from the famous London Proms concerts. There is nothing new here; everything has been recorded and presented many times. What makes this disk tick is the excellence of the great Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, who are absolutely in their element here. If you are an Anglophile, in the sense that you like British classical music, then this disk is for you. Serious, intellectual music? Hardly! Glorious, nationalistic, paradigmatic English music at its best? You bet! Great recording, superb sound qualities- strong recommendation!" Report Abuse
