Notes and Editorial Reviews

Widely acclaimed for the subtle artistry of his playing, Pablo Garibay has won numerous international competitions including the JoAnn Falletta (USA), Julián Arcas (Spain), Manuel M. Ponce (Mexico), René Bartoli (France) and Gevelsberg (Germany). Scarlatti’s ‘soul-searching’ Sonata in D minor, K.213 reveals even more of its expressive poignancy when arranged for guitar, and other sublime works in this recital are closely associated with the great Andrés Segovia, who described Tarréga’s Capricho árabe as ‘especially suited to reach the chords of a feminine heart’.  Pablo Garibay is spectacular! March 14, 2017 By PENNY F. (Los Angeles, CA) See All My Reviews "I just heard Antonio Jose’s Sonata for Guitar on the radio, played by Pablo Garibay. We got home and sat in the car, transfixed, until it was finished. We didn’t know a guitar could do all that, and in most players’ hands, it could not have. The scope of the music was amazing, suspenseful, sometimes subtle and intimate, sometimes dramatic and powerful. Garibay brought such life to it, the composer would have been thrilled, as we were thrilled. I believe he is the best guitarist I have ever heard." Report Abuse
