Great value, little worth August 2, 2014 By J. Allen (Key West, FL) See All My Reviews "What a bonanza of material at such a low cost! I took the bait in order to get to know the somewhat elusive F. Liszt better. Having listened to only 4 discs I am perhaps less than qualified to review the whole box,but I can report without reservation, "What a lot of dreck!" I would guess that there was no remastering as many recordings sound flat. The main issue for me is the discovery that while Liszt was a keyboard master and genius (his Beethoven symphony transcriptions are massive), his compositions are difficult and burdened. And in this collection even the beloved "Les Preludes" (Flash Gordon theme) is represented by the ghastly Bernstein version. Granted, Liszt and Wagner were attempting to make movies before their(cinema's) time, and we can view them as caught up in the uber-greatness of Beethoven without having much to add, and still feeling compelled to make music in His image. If you like Liszt by all means take advantage of this edition...if unsure, move along." Report Abuse
Unbelievable Bargain May 24, 2014 By Gregory  Carlson (Marshall, VA) See All My Reviews "Imagine all the music of Liszt performed by the greatest pianists and conductors ever - all at a little more than $1.00 per cd! The first cd alone is worth the purchase price." Report Abuse
