Starting with Franz Schubert’s great ballad “Der Taucher” (“The Diver”), which is based on Friedrich Schiller, Michael Volle leads the way through a program of lieder with Helmut Deutsch that includes Hugo Wolf and Richard Strauss, but also lieder by Hermann Reutter that are still awaiting a wider audience in the concert halls.
Michael Volle was trained by Josef Metternich and Rudolf Piernay. He was a member of the ensemble at the opera houses of Mannheim, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Zurich. He is now permanently engaged with the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera.
