Remember that summer when you and Fabrizio rode your Vespas across the Ponte Vecchio and ate bruschette in front of Santa Maria del Fiore? Well, ok,we don't either, but from the striding opening through the race to the finish, it's clear that Sarah Chang and company want you to think you do. Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence is a postcard from Italy written in Russian, Tchaikovsky's bright and sunny reminiscences of his own "Grand Tour," italianate in spirit but underpinned with Tchaikosvky's unique brand of Russian fire.

The players in the ad hoc sextet drawn from the Berlin Philharmonic romp along with Tchaikovsky, but still spin out the cantabile lines of sentimental second movement without preciousness. It's the

Like the Souvenir de Florence Antonin Dvorak's String Sextet is characteristically gentle and warm-hearted; the firm of Chang, Hartog, Christ, Christ, Faust and Maninger are in tune with its rustic good humor.
