(New Plymouth, -) See All My Reviews "This is a hard opera to purchase as there are so many radically different presentations, that also need very good voices. This production was enjoyable, taking part in the countryside most of the time. As well, most of the singing and acting was fine. So why did I deduct a 'star'? Siragusa as Elvino is not my favourite tenor and did not quite look the part, though Elvino is a 'heel' anyway and should not look heroic. Gutierrez as Amina has a high coloratura voice and seems to be a diva of the future. Here she was a little uncertain once or twice but generally hit the top notes beautifully - still this was a live performance and they are seldom perfect, no matter who is singing. I chose this DVD as the most promising of those on offer, and think I made a good choice." Report Abuse
