Kepler is a refreshing return to large-scale symphonic writing for the opera house. It's a musical dedication to the life of this great scientist - triumphs and human flaws. As Glass states: "I'm interested in the scientist as the dreamer..the scientist as the poet.Kepler was a man with his feet in the mud and his head in the clouds."

The performance is from the premiere production by the commissioners featuring Soloists and Chorus of the Landestheater Linz, the Bruckner Orchester Linz conducted by Dennis Russell Davies, stage direction by Peter Missotten and a libretto by Martina Winkel.
