About as close to actually hearing it in person a April 23, 2012
By Peter B. (Whiting, IN) See All My Reviews
"First,I must point out that the spelling of the "Venue" is St.Sulpice, not St.Suplice Presided over for a century by Charles-Marie Widor from 18701933 and after him by Marcel Dupre from 19331971, and expanded to 102-stops in the 1930s, this remarkable instrument is perhaps the most famous pipe organ in all of France. Michael Murray, himself a student of Dupre, plays works by his teacher as well as Franck and Widor. While not as fiery a performer as Dupre,he does acquit himself well in this Super Audio CD,which is about as close to actually hearing it in person as is currently possible. Recommended."
