Notes and Editorial Reviews

A collection of Vivaldi concertos—six in all; one for flute, several for one or two violins—plus the Sinfonia al Santo Sepolcro shows more of the Karajan charisma than his sense of style. The inflation is obvious but this remains a fascinating concert, superbly played. The liveliness of the recording is another plus factor.

big band Vivaldi December 19, 2015 By Ann D. (Coupeville, WA) See All My Reviews "These concerti are played with a full orchestral sound, with vibrato and tone. They are very beautiful, especially RV 169. I found the fast movement of Alla rustica to be a little ponderous. There are a couple of consistent skips in RV 523, one in track 14 and the other in track 16. Arkiv kindly sent me new CD but the skips were still there. But really they don't detract too much from the overall CD." Report Abuse
