Notes and Editorial Reviews

The sturdy tempos of Joseph Krips (1966) give time and space to relish Gedda in his cool, elegant youth; Rothenburger’s Konstanze, generous of expression and of coloratura; Popp’s delectable Blonde; and Frick’s giant of an Osmin.

Magical Mozart with a Magical Cast August 22, 2013 By Joseph Erdeljac (West Chester, PA) See All My Reviews "This is one of the best recordings of this work that I have had the pleasure to hear. It is truly wonderful Mozart over all and this stellar cast makes it wonderful. Everyone is in fine voice and quite capable of this difficult score. Gedda is in top form and delivers one of his best portrayals. Rothenberger is outstanding in the role of Kostanza with all of its coloratura and wide range. Her tone as that of Lucia Pop is always clear, clean and accurate as well as exciting. Unger can not be matched and Frick is at his best with all the lowest notes true and secure. This is a Seraglio well worth owning." Report Abuse
