Notes and Editorial Reviews
This program imagines what a Christmas concert at the Munich Residence might have been like. It includes works by composers who may well be unknown to today’s listeners, but who played a significant role at the Munich Court during the Baroque age, e.g. Johann Christoph Pez and Evaristo Felice Dall’Abaco. Under the direction of its concertmaster Rüdiger Lotter, the Hofkapelle München performs works from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries on original instruments. Since its foundation in 1992 as the Neue Hofkapelle München, the ensemble quickly established itself as one of the most popular baroque orchestras in Bavaria.
