"Spectaculars" is the right word! April 23, 2014 By Richard F. Buckley (Jefferson Hills, PA) See All My Reviews "This CD is definitely a rewarding experience! It consists of six old standbys that you often hear if you are a rabid fan of classical music. Admittedly, they are all light classics - an occasional break from the heavy classics which I ordinarily favor, but they are so well selected and presented that this is one of the finest picks which you could make for light listening. Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra do an outstanding job on the presentation, and the sound is certainly "spectacular." If you are strictly a classical music buff as I am, you probably have most or all of these selections in your collection, but get this disc anyway! The sound is exhilarating, and, as I said, Kunzel and the CPO do a fantastic job with it. There are two pieces by Rimsky-Korsakov - Procession of the Maidens from Mlada and Dance of the Tumblers from The Snow Maiden, Paul Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprenice, Weinberger's Polka and Fugue from Schwanda the Bagpiper, the Bacchanale from Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah and Liszt's Les Preludes. I love them all, and so will you! Get this CD while it is still available and very inexpensive. You won't regret it." Report Abuse
