Exciting oboe music December 22, 2015 By Brian S. (Clyde, Otago) See All My Reviews "The combination of Fiala the composer and Ingo Goritzki the oboe player results in exciting music especially in the solo passages where soaring passages take your mind away. While Krommer, Kalliwoda and Martinu have written what are probably more technically perfect compositions, they lack the spark of Fiala's creation. Goritzki was possibly the world's most talented oboe player at that time (1990), and his mastery was amazing. The performance by the Polish orchestra was truly great, and the recording engineers created a CD which brings out the best of the soloist's talent. For most of these pieces the sheet music is very difficult to obtain, and perhaps this fact explains why these four wonderful compositions are seldom recorded. The Fiala composition contains very challenging oboe passages." Report Abuse
