Notes and Editorial Reviews

I was writing only last month of this performance of Ibert's witty Divertissement, and it was a pleasure to hear it again; indeed I enjoyed it more than the other works on this disc. Some of the playing sounds a little hard-driven ; for instance Hercules's tune in Le Rouet d' Omphale loses strength at this tempo. Nevertheless all the music sounds alive and fresh. There are tiny lapses in ensemble here and there, but not enough to bc a worry. Quality is splendid , and there is an unusually pleasing front to the sleeve.

-- Gramophone [2/1961]

...[I]f we compare Sado's performance of the Divertissement [on Naxos] with that as recorded by Martinon on Decca, the difference
Read more is quite marked. While there is nothing to complain severely about with the Naxos, the Decca recording is a riot, and I am sure, much more what Ibert would have wanted.
