Too Much Sibelius? December 31, 2015 By J. Joseph (New York, NY) See All My Reviews "First off, the answer is emphatically no. This is the 150 anniversary of Sibelius birth and the more the merrier in the deluge of recordings, new, old and middle aged made available to us and believe me, I have bought my share. Bernstein on DVDs really stands out, both for the interpretation and the hysterics on the podium. You can just listen if you want to after one or two viewings so you can concentrate on the music, And what great music it is. Sibelius was out of favor for a time but he is definitely back. There are many great Sibelius on CDs, etc. but not too many on DVDs. You will not be sorry about Bernstein except if you want boring renditions." Report Abuse
