Henryk Szeryng was at the peak of his career when he made this recording a decade and a half ago, and the playing is very fine indeed... [A] superb account of the Tzigane which Szeryng aristocratically dominates...

The most winning of violin-playing: technically of great brilliance, and lyrically of great sensuous quality. These two qualities without a doubt lend distinction to the music, if it is thought that it needs it (my predecessor in 1972 did so). They may be observed here clearly, for Szeryng is recorded rather forwardly, both in placing and in tone-quality; nevertheless
Read more with the upper frequencies judiciously tamed the recording can declare itself in general very good, as can also the Monte-Carlo orchestra.
