Notes and Editorial Reviews

Tatiana Pavlovna Sergeyeva was born in Tver. She graduated from and completed post-graduate studies at the Moscow Conservatorie as a composer, pianist and organist. She has been a member of the Russian Union of Composers since 1982 and in 1987 she won the Shostakovich Composer's Prize. In 1995, Ms. Sergeyeva was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation for outstanding success in her creative work. Sergeyeva's music is in the mainstream Russian tradition and yet she has an energy and vitality that is all her own. The Second Piano Concerto at only 14 minutes long, does not appear too daunting, BUT in effect, it is. Think of a more severe Shostakovich #1. Add to this the fact that Sergeyeva is an absolutely brilliant Read more pianist and you have a very good disc for the customer who enjoys something a bit different in the area of contemporary music.
