a subdued read March 19, 2014 By J. Tatnall (West Grove, PA) See All My Reviews "Schreker is German impressionism. This opera is perhaps his most elaborate and lush. The cast of this performance is good with William Cochran a name I recognize, an American who made his career in Europe and could sing anything with style and passion. The live performance is shorn about 20 minutes from act 3. When this was the only version available, I was glad to have it. However, the sound is somewhat distant and De Waart's reading is rather subdued." Report Abuse
