Dary John Mizelle studied trombone, theory, and composition in California at UC Davis and UC San Diego. His mentors include Larry Austin, Karlheinz Stockhausen, David Tudor, Roger Reynolds, Robert Erikson, Pauline Oliveros and Kenneth Gaburo. One of the New Music Ensemble and SOURCE magazine members, he has specialized in the sonic, structural and theatrical aspects of contemporary music. A prolific composer with over 300 compositions, he works with electronic/computer/concrete materials, chamber, solo instrumental , large ensemble, choral, orchestra, opera/theater and experimental combinations.
