Notes and Editorial Reviews
A welcome CD transfer for Edinburgh-born baritone Henry Herford’s debut recording from 1985. Winner of the 1982 Carnegie Hall International American Music Competition, Herford, with his excellent accompanist Robin Bowman, is an exquisitely sensitive protagonist of this material. John Corigliano’s 1965 cycle is a haunting creation, and I also particularly enjoyed the three fine songs by Arthur Shepherd (1880-1958) Beautifully balanced Abbey Road sound.'
