Notes and Editorial Reviews

Here is a wonderful release. It could really be called The Greatest Hits from the Vienna Opera. For this disc the folks at Preiser have not only chosen the stars of the Vienna Opera who were the most popular during the time period 1942-1947, but, as well, they have chosen performances which show the artists in their best light, having selected, in many cases, just the right role for the right opera star. For example, Svanholm sings from Meistersinger, Guden from The Marraige of Figaro, and Lorenz Walkure. Here is a wonderful release. It could really be called The Greatest Hits from the Vienna Opera.
